Frequently asked questions
Camera work is not part of any job booked here right now. The Virginia DCJS Electronic Security Business certification is in progress; this notice changes the day it is issued.
No video feeds are offered or installed today.
What does it cost?
A flat $400 for labor, one line item. You buy the hardware yourself through our vetted links, so no parts are ever billed by us. Labor plus the parts you buy stays under $1,000, and so does your total with us for the year.
Is the $400 refundable?
Your $400 is collected as a refundable deposit, captured automatically by Stripe when you pay. It is fully refunded if we cancel your job, or if you cancel before your scheduled install date. It is not an authorization hold -- it is charged now and refunded, not merely released, if a refund applies.
Do you install cameras?
Not yet. Mounting, aiming and commissioning camera equipment waits on Virginia DCJS Electronic Security Business certification, which is in progress and not held today, so no price on this site covers it. What is booked today is the groundwork at the camera position: the post, the buried low-voltage line, the power, or a wireless link out to it.
What can I book today?
A wireless link to a camera position, gate or outbuilding; a post set where there is nothing to mount to; the buried low-voltage line and power at a position; and driveway gate automation on an existing gate operator. All of it is low-voltage (under 50 V DC). We perform no line-voltage electrical work.
How do I schedule a visit?
Run the Perimeter Upgrade Calculator, buy your parts, then tell us the days and parts of the day you are free. We confirm one of them or propose another, and you accept. There is no fixed calendar to fit into.
Where do you work?
McLean and Great Falls in Fairfax County, and Middleburg and Aldie in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Who comes to my property, and is my request resold?
Your request goes to the one person who does the work, and nobody else. We do not sell, share or resell it as a lead, and the person you book is the person who comes.
Who stands behind the work?
Hardware defects are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty. Our installation workmanship is guaranteed by GateWire, separately.
